Argentium Sterling Silver is a beautiful sustainable precious metal. Made entirely of recycled silver, it is the environmentally friendly choice. A joy to work with as an artisan and equally a joy to wear. It is nickel-free and safe to wear if you have a nickel allergy.
It contains even more pure silver than standard Sterling silver, shines brighter than platinum, and is known for its tarnish-resistance. There is a small amount of germanium in Argentium which acts as the hardener in this precious metal.
Cleaning & Polishing
You will rarely need to polish your Argentium Sterling Silver. It can simply be cleaned using warm water with a mild soap solution and then patted dry with a soft cloth. Do not use cleaners intended for use with standard Sterling Silver as this may affect its tarnish resistant quality.
Storing Your Jewellery
It is best to store Argentium jewellery individually in a soft cloth or a reasonably airtight jewellery box which will help minimise the chance of tarnishing and prevent it from getting scratched.
It is advisable to prevent your Argentium Sterling Silver jewellery from touching regular sterling silver or other metals such as brass or copper during storage because these can react and cause it to tarnish.
It has also been reported that Argentium should not be stored near rubber bands as the sulfur in rubber can also react with Argentium causing it to tarnish.
Each woven (Argentium) Silver Art Jewellery piece that I create and sell arrives to you shipped, presented and protected in a quality royal blue jewellery gift box.
I am a proud member of the Argentium Silver Guild, and enjoy being part of a network of other artisans/jewellery designers also working with this amazing and beautiful precious metal.
